M/V Sarbaz – Generator Replacement

DESCRIPTION:
The ship has 3 sets generators with old type and No.3 generator (B&W 5T 23 LH-4V BHP 725 @ 720 RPM) was already damaged and not working. In this case, owner had purchased one set new generator from Yammar (5DK-20, 500KW @ 720RPM).

We cut the shell plating iwo No.3 generator as access and removed the old generator bed plate and foundation outside of E/R, the plating cooler was also removed outside and all related pipelines (fresh water, sea water, steam, fuel oil, lub oil, air, exhaust, etc) was removed.

The new foundation was fabricated under supervision of Yammar service engineers and put in position then checked the alignment in order. Then the new generator set was transported from jetty to E/R by 2 sets mobile cranes (50 tons) then shifted and sit on foundation by chain blocks.

The removed pipelines/cables were connected with the new generator and new plating cooler was installed beside the new generator.

Installed AVR, CCT, VR and air breaker in M.S.B., checked/adjusted/connected the old system with new generator and released the appeared alarms in order.

Carried the running testing for new generator and shared with another two sets old generator in order.
